š SHELBY AND BLAZE, BACK AT IT BLAZIN! š
Welcome to the second episode of OTF Stoner Stories! Our first episode was almost a full year ago cause I (Shelby) am shit! This is *technically* the third episode, as Blaze and I recorded a different episode some time ago, that still sits unedited (sheāll get there). Regardless of those semantics, this episode is hilarious and SO creative of Blaze. Give it a listen to see what she has in store for meā¦

Shit Weāre Loving: EXPERIENCE
Shelbyās Pick: 4/20 Observance Day + smoking with intention
I have the immense pleasure and privilege of taking the day off to celebrate this āholiday.ā If you follow me on insta, Iām semi-documenting my day thus farāperhaps as a testament to the power of productivity cannabis has, perhaps as an awareness for more mental health / self-care days, perhaps cause Iām vain AF. Either way (or all the ways) Iām trying to lead (and smoke) with intention today. Itās very easy, and quite tempting, to give into cannabisā lazy powers and zone outāto get high to just be high, to get high just to forget, get high just to pause for one fucking second. And do not get me wrong, as someone who suffers from mental health issues, I definitely get high to feel those things (or, I suppose better said, feel no thing). But when I do that everyday, then I let cannabis feed my depression instead of helping me work through itāboth of which it is exceptionally capable of. One is an abuse of a substance, one is using a substance to its fullest potential.
Smoking with a mini goal or intention in mind combats this, or can, at least, help combat this. Look, no one is perfect and I certainly am not and loooove to abuse the substance that is weedāit feels fucking great!! But it also feels great to harness the vibe and funnel it into something, no matter how small. Iām not saying you need to get high and write your Masterās thesis (do not recommend), it can literally be āIām smoking so I can feel my body betterā or āIām smoking so I can laugh with my whole selfā or āIām smoking so I can channel sativaās creativity into this project / indicaās relaxation so I can sleep better.ā
Some things Iām looking to do today with my high:
clean my hamsterās cage (yes, a chore, but I just got her all new things for her to play with so Iām pretty stoked. We might go outside too!)
New Moon + Solar Eclipse ritual
plant care!
reorganize my altar
take a deliciously long shower

Show Your Support: Bee City USA
In 2023, OTF will now spotlight four charities, showing our support on a quarterly basis instead of monthly. Though this does mean weāre not highlighting as many organizations as before, this will allow for more time on the important aspect of writing, while still doing what OTF was created to do which is support writing and each other. For the new quarterly SYS organizations, OTF will donate $200 to each hand-selected charity. This Spring Quarter (April, May, June), we spotlight Bee City USA.
With Earth Day happening late April (the 22nd), and with spring being a time for absolute renewal, we chose an environmental charity to support this quarter. Bee City USA provides a framework for communities to come together to conserve native pollinators by providing them with a healthy habitat that is rich in a variety of native plants, that provides nest sites, and that is protected from pesticides.Ā As the name suggests, the focus of Bee City USA is bees, and primarily our native species.
Since 2019, there have been more than 2,566 habitat projects (think gardens, meadows, orchards) completed, totaling over 3,800 acres.
The steps that Bee City affiliates take to conserve our native bees, including creating safe habitats and hosting community events, will also help other pollinators, including butterflies and moths, as well as the non-native honeybee. One of the most impactful actions anyĀ affiliate can take is to encourage others to think beyond the honeybeeāthere are more than 3,600 species of bees in this country!āand recognize the true diversity of bees that sustain our communities.Ā For the quarter, OTF has already donated $200 to Bee City and encourages you to give and/or promote what you can.
